GIVEDIRECT PRIVACY AND SECURITY POLICY

GiveDirect is an online fundraising platform used by U.S. based charities to process charitable contributions, event registrations, and membership dues online.

This policy describes what security measures GiveDirect has in place, what personal information GiveDirect collects, how GiveDirect uses this information, how this information may be shared, and what choices and rights you have with respect to this information. Access and use of our platform is subject to this Privacy and Security Policy.

1. Collection of Information

We collect information that you provide us when you use our platform. We collect information associated with your device using cookies and similar technologies. We may also receive information about your location based on your IP address.

Information You Provide Us

When you use our platform, we collect information you provide us, like your name, address, email address, and phone number.

We also collect certain information in order to process your donations and payments, such as your payment method (for example, credit card or bank account information).

Communications

When you communicate with us via email, we may store a copy of your communications for up to two years. We do not record phone calls, but voicemail records may be stored for up to one year.

Our Partners

We may receive information about you from our partners. For example, if you have a recurring transaction with us, our payment gateway may notify us that your payment information has changed, and third parties may help us prevent fraud by verifying your contact information.

Automatically Collected Information

We collect information about your use of our platform, including your search activity, the pages you view, and the date and time of your visit. We also collect information that your device provides to us, such as your browser type, type of device, IP address, and referring URLs.

If you have a recurring transaction on our platform, we will store information about your payment method.

We do not rent or sell your personal contact information (such as your email address) to third parties to use for their own marketing purposes. We share information in the following ways:

The Charities You Support

The information you provide to us in conjunction with a donation or a payment to a charity is shared with that charity.

If you have a recurring transaction on our platform, the charity will have limited information about your payment method, such as the last four digits and the expiration date of the credit card. The charity is provided with this information so that they can assist you with changing your payment method or answer questions you may have about your transactions.

Platform Partners

We use a partner for corporate match donations. When you submit your information for a corporate match donation, some of that information is shared with our partner, such as your name, business email address, and employer name. This information is shared in order to fulfill the match request.

Investigations

We may investigate and disclose information from or about you, as permitted by applicable law, if we believe that such investigation or disclosure is (a) reasonably necessary to comply with legal process and law enforcement instructions and orders, such as a search warrant, subpoena, statute, judicial proceeding, or other legal process served on us; (b) helpful to prevent, investigate, or identify possible wrongdoing in connection with our platform.

4. Third Party Links

Our platform may include third-party social media links and links to other third-party web sites. These sites are operated or hosted by third parties and are subject to their own privacy policies instead of this Privacy Policy.

5. Communication

An essential part of our services that you receive when you complete a transaction through our platform is to receive communications from us through email. We communicate with you about your donations and payments to the charities using our service. Please be aware that you cannot opt-out of receiving transaction-related messages from us.

6. Data Retention

In general, we do not remove personal information that is associated with transactions you have made on our platform. You may request to have your personal information removed from our platform using the Contact Us section of this site. If your personal information is removed, we will retain general information about your past transactions, such as date, amount, and the charity the contribution was given to, but your personally identifiable information will no longer be associated with those transactions. Please note that we do not control information that recipient charities have copied out of our platform.

7. Children

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. In the event that we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under age 13, we will take appropriate steps to delete that information. If you become aware or believe that a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us as provided in the Contact Us section.

8. Security

When you make a donation or place an order on our website, all of your information, including your credit card number and contact address, is transmitted through the Internet using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology. SSL technology causes your browser to encrypt your information before transmitting it to our secure server. SSL technology, an industry standard, is designed to prevent someone other than operators of our websites from capturing and viewing your personal information.

We use industry standard measures to protect your personal information from loss, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. However, the Internet is not 100% secure. We encourage you to use caution when using the Internet. Online access to your personal information is protected with a password you select. We strongly recommend that you do not share your password and that you use unique passwords for all of your online accounts.

9. Updates to this Privacy Policy

We may revise this Privacy Policy from time to time. The most current version of our Privacy Policy will govern our use of information about you.
